What is EFT?
It’s a gallon of your favorite ice-cream without the bloating, it’s an entire bottle of wine without the hang over, and it’s your bed after the shittiest week ever all rolled into one.
Still not sure what it is, let me put on my sweater vest and glasses to deliver a more scientific version of what I just said:
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique.
By tapping on these acupressure points it taps into the parasympathetic nervous system reducing the fight or flight response to any perceived threat AKA lion on the horizon that you must run from, fight to the death or freeze until it passes.
Studies have shown a visible reduction in the stress hormone cortisol in the body after tapping on these EFT points. (And we all know what increased cortisol does to our hips and thighs).
They have even hooked up EEG machines to measure the neuropathways in the brain while recalling a traumatic story or event. Then did an EFT session with the subject. The subject could feel a measureable difference in his body but they ran another test to prove that the neurons where indeed firing differently after the session. It was more than a placebo effect.
Funny thing about our central nervous system, it doesn’t get updated software ever year. (Apparently it’s not an Apple product) And it can’t distinguish between that freaking lion is going to kill me and holy crap I have to market myself, speak on a stage, adult without coffee, ect.
So we are basically bombarded our whole lives with these signals telling us it’s not safe to be seen or heard or something it’s just plum not safe to be us.
Funny story about why they say the proof is in the pudding. Way back when you were more likely to be eaten by a lion or bear they would make pudding and it was a lot harder than dumping Jello in a bowl with milk. Apparently making pudding was a test to see if a woman was a proper cook. Is anyone else craving pudding now? Any who, on to my proving it’s more than just a woo woo idea or concept. Stuffy shirt scientist and medical professionals agree that EFT is the Shizzzzz:
Hundreds of medical and psychology journals, including countless clinical trials, have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, pain, and other problems.
I personally have used it for all but one. If you guess which one you get total bragging rights. Here’s a hint I’m a 38 year old mother of 3, one of which is special needs, I’m an international success coach, rape survivor that has no beef with spiders or tight spaces.
I have used it not only to get past my fears that threatened to hold me back in my business but with my children as well. And just look at what EFT was able to do for these awe inspiring rockstars:
